Webinar - Plastic degradation: understanding to take better action

Plastics in our environment do not disappear: over time, they break down into microscopic particles known as microplastics, which spread throughout oceans and soils. But how are these particles formed? Through what mechanisms do they circulate? And what happens to them once they are dispersed in the environment?

Through this webinar, the Metasoft Matter research program aims to provide insights into the life cycle of microplastics and the challenges they pose. This event will also offer an opportunity to explore research avenues for reducing this pollution, particularly through the example of textile fibers and the development of alternative materials with a lower environmental impact.

Join us on Thursday, April 16, from 12:15 pm to 1:30 pm

With the participation of:

  • Aurélie Mosse, designer-researcher, lecturer, and co-director of the Soft Matters research group at the École des Arts Décoratifs - PSL, and member of the Metasoft Matter strategic board
  • Alice Pelosse, physicist and CNRS researcher at PMMH (Physics and Mechanics of Heterogeneous Media), a partner laboratory of the Metasoft Matter program
  • Matthieu Labousse, CNRS researcher and physics lecturer at ESPCI Paris - PSL, co-lead of the Metasoft Matter program

Webinar hosted by Rafaële Brillaud, independent journalist
